The route has challenging sections both physically and technically. You should be a fit and experienced biker on technical terrain.
Not suitable for poorly trained family groups.
What type of bike can you ride with?
Given the type of roads that will be tackled, the route is more suitable for mountain bikes and e-bikes, it is also feasible with Gravel type bikes equipped with adequate tires (minimum 38 mm) and a gear ratio for climbing steep sections.
What are the best times to undertake the journey?
Careful consideration must be given to when you undertake the journey.
We do not recommend winter because there is a risk of finding icy roads and snow.
Spring sees the awakening of nature, the thaw offers longer days with sunrises and cold sunsets with exceptional colours.
Some paths may have been washed out due to winter rainfall.
Summer is the best but the busiest period and you will be sharing the path with hikers.
Autumn is dominated by yellow, orange colours, the days still have pleasant temperatures and often the weather offers clear days.
Generally, the recommended period for tackling the journey is from the beginning of March until the end of October except for extreme adverse weather events.
How many stages are planned to travel the Cammino?
The Cammino has been designed as a 7 day route taking into account the difference in altitude rather than the distances . Surely, well-trained cyclists will be able to complete the route in three or four days but we invite you to plan the route calmly, letting yourself be carried away by the history, beauty and art of these territories for a little longer.
